Ladybird (7 spot)

Size: 5-8mm in length.

Description: very familiar brightly coloured red to orange beetle with seven spots, three on each wing case (elytra), the seventh at the front embracing both elytra. Fusions of the spots are very rare.

Habitat: can be found in a wide variety of habitats including field, parks, woods and gardens. Feeds on aphids.

Distribution: widespread throughout the UK.
