Ficaria verna (formerly Ranunculus ficaria)
Flower: shiny yellow flowers with 8-12 petals, one flower per stem.
Leaves: long stalked shiny heart shaped or almost round leaves, creeping stems.
Height: up to 20 cm.
Distribution: damp woodland, stream banks, ditches, in the shade of hedgerows.
